Hiroshi Araki, who completed the master's course in Computer Science and Engineering in FY2020, and Prof. Motonobu Hattori won the Best Paper Award at the 6th International Conference on Information and Communications Technology (ICOIACT 2023) held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on November 10, 2023. This award was given to the best paper among the 93 papers presented at the conference.
The winning paper, "Supervised STDP Learning with Weight Decay for Spiking Neural Networks," is a summary of Araki's master's research. In this research, they proposed a novel supervised learning method to efficiently acquire highly accurate recognition abilities in networks that transmit information in spikes, like biological brains. Araki said, "I am very honored that our paper has been accepted and selected as the Best Paper at ICOIACT. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prof. Motonobu Hattori for his enthusiastic guidance of my research when I was a student, and for suggesting and leading the way to submit our paper to ICOIACT.
