On June 18, 2021, Assistant Professor Hajime Sato was awarded the “Research Encouragement Prize” by the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, Division of Natural Medicines. The title of the awarded research is "Elucidation of the Biosynthetic Pathway of Natural Products by the Collaboration of Computational and Experimental Chemistry," and the award ceremony and the award lecture are scheduled to be held at the 23rd Symposium on the Development and Application of Natural Medicines in Hokkaido University on October 16 and 17.

The Division of Natural Medicines, Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (PSJ) honors outstanding and promising researchers by awarding them " Encouragement of Scientists " to contribute to the improvement of research activities by young researchers. Assistant Prof. Sato has developed a method for analyzing the complex biosynthetic pathways of natural products using computational and theoretical chemical chemistry, and has been working to elucidate the entire biosynthetic pathways of various natural products.
