Masters Program in International Software Engineering,

Hi! My name is Genzhao Zheng. I am from China and I am pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Yamanashi.

After graduating in 2008 from Zhejiang University with a major in Tourism Management, I came to Japan as a graduate student enrolled in the master's program in International Software Engineering. The program trains software engineers for leadership roles in software development across China and Japan. During the first semester, I concentrated on studying Japanese. My Japanese improved quickly with my communications with Japanese students and the help of my tutor. Here, every foreign student has a personal tutor who can help them adjust to local life and their Japanese studies. Furthermore, the University of Yamanashi offers internal and external programs with a wide range of flexible learning options. Currently, I am serving a one-year internship at a Japanese IT company to learn practical knowledge in web page design and software development. Additionally, I am encouraged to communicate with Japanese students and other international students to obtain more information about life in Japan and record it in Chinese on the web page that I designed as a communication bridge between China and Japan via the Internet.

Professor Hisakazu Shindo, my supervisor, is one of the best people I've met. He takes good care of foreign students; additionally, Mr. Takayama, my internship supervisor, helps me a lot not only in my professional studies but also in my life in Japan.

I came to Japan because I wanted to experience different fields of studies besides Tourism Management. The flexible curriculum offered allows me to take classes in a variety of different areas—from French to Japanese Culture. Then, I am able to integrate the ones that I'm most interested in. The University of Yamanashi is a good choice if you wish to meet nice professors and lovely local people.
