At the international academic conference in the field of mechanical engineering “26th CISM IFToMM Symposium on Robot Design, Dynamics and Control (RoManSy2026)”, a research group including Xiao Sun (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering), Shoma Noda (second-year master’s student in the Mechatronics Engineering Course, Faculty of Engineering), Koji Makino (Professor, Faculty of Engineering), and Hidetsugu Terada (Professor, Faculty of Engineering) received the Bronze Research Award.
The award-winning paper, titled “Collision Avoidance for a Heterogeneous Multi-robot Arm System by 3D-Extended Buffered Voronoi Cells,” proposes a novel method for achieving collision avoidance in the complex scenario of collaborative work among multiple robot arms of different types within a limited space, and was recognized for its high research merit.
Assistant Professor Sun, the first author of the paper, commented, “I am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the co-researchers who contributed to this study. I will take this as motivation to further dedicate myself to my research.”
