At the international academic conference in the field of mechanical engineering \u201c26th CISM IFToMM Symposium on Robot Design, Dynamics and Control (RoManSy2026)\u201d, a research group including Xiao Sun (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering), Shoma Noda (second-year master\u2019s student in the Mechatronics Engineering Course, Faculty of Engineering), Koji Makino (Professor, Faculty of Engineering), and Hidetsugu Terada (Professor, Faculty of Engineering) received the Bronze Research Award.<\/p>\n

The award-winning paper, titled \u201cCollision Avoidance for a Heterogeneous Multi-robot Arm System by 3D-Extended Buffered Voronoi Cells,\u201d proposes a novel method for achieving collision avoidance in the complex scenario of collaborative work among multiple robot arms of different types within a limited space, and was recognized for its high research merit.<\/p>\n

Assistant Professor Sun, the first author of the paper, commented, \u201cI am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the co-researchers who contributed to this study. I will take this as motivation to further dedicate myself to my research.\u201d<\/p>\n
